Who Knew

that I would be a part of the local music scene is only a matter of months?... It was only a few months ago I was getting back into the local scene, but now it seems like I have a show or two to go to every weekend, and not to mention after parties and weekday hang outs at Pete Wentz's bar in the city. (he's never there... but it's just fun to say).
I have Sam to thank for this. She's the one who became friends with some people who became friends with us and we all now kinda hang out. I mean yes, Sam and I sometimes have our own agenda for shows and stuff, but its the fact that we get put on lists now for after parties and band people are always asking if we're coming to their shows... it's pretty fantastic.
We've noticed too that we are the only ones in our little group that are not in the music scene. Everyone is either in a band or working for a label, then there's us. Two girls who just so happened to make friends with the right people.
It's pretty incredible that something like this could happen... something only people can dream about... i know they're only local bands, but how many l
ocal bands made it big around here? I can name a few... so some of these guys are going places and I can not wait to see what happens.

You're My friend... I'll always be here for you...♥

Sam and I were talking about how another friend of our is always being taken advantage of and getting walked all over by her family and boyfriend, and sometimes she feels like calling someone to talk is a burden so she doesn't talk to anyone, but Sam and I were saying that we both are always here for our friends no matter what the situation is or what time it is... We are always here to talk.
So here's the thing.
If you are a friend of mine and you EVER feel like you want to talk about anything, anything at all... I am here to listen and talk to you.. I am a great listener and I can give some pretty awesome advice when I can... I don't always have the same experience as you're going through, but I can usually be empathetic and put myself in your shoes and I can imagine the best ways to figure shit out with you...
It can be at like 3:45 in the morning on a Tuesday and if you call me I will be more than likely to pick up the phone even if I was sleeping, and totally not be mad at you, so quit saying sorry that you woke me up... I don't give a shit!! Just talk to me because it's important... or you wouldn't be calling me at 3:45 AM.
My friends come first all the time... it's as simple as that... well... my family comes first, but to be honest if you're my friend, you are part of my family... "friends are the family you get to choose" and if you're just so lucky to be called my friend then you should be a fucking part of my family that's for sure because I don't let just anyone be my friend. (if you're not sure if you're my friend... well... 1. you probably aren't... or 2. dude, fucking ask me if we're friends... i'll tell you where you stand on the friendship scale with me.
And to be honest... call me about anything. you can be contemplating whether or not to wear pink socks or green socks to class... or you're sad that all your lucky charms are all gone... or your dog chewed up your favorite picture of Nick Jonas... I don't give two shits what you call me about... let's talk! I mean.. it can totally be something serious too.. I can be serious... when i really need to be... :)
so call me up and we'll talk until there's nothing more to talk about.. or we've come up with the best solution or murder plan... haha jk jk... kinda.. :)

The Academy Is dot dot dot ♥

let's start off by saying, I love The Academy Is... (yes. that dot dot dot is suppose to be there; it's part of their name). They had their 5th Anniversary show for their first album Almost Here. I can remember going to shows where all they had was Almost Here... and they played with Fall Out Boy... good thing they weren't there... (yes. i am going to use dot dot dot after a whole lot tonight just because i can)
They played the whole album from front to back, from Attention Attention all the way to Almost Here. then William played an acoustic Everything We Had, which is always a beautiful song, and then the guys came back out and played a few songs from Santi and Fast Times at Barrington High. It was an amazing show... nothing could have made it better...
oh wait... yeah one thing... not so many goddam teenagers!!
I have never ever EVER seen the Metro as packed as it was tonight. jeeeeeeeeze. there was hardly any where to go... and I'm pretty sure most of them are bandwagoners after SANTI... I mean... most of them had to be at least 15-16 years old... so lets do that math. If I'm 21 and lets say they are 15 that's 5 years difference, they would have been 1- when Almost Here first came out... meaning 5th grade... and I highly doubt they were actually listening to TAI... in 5th grade... unless they were cool... and none of those kids were cool enough...
The best part of the night... besides William Beckett singing on stage for an hour and fourty-five minutes, was that all these little girls were excited that Davey from AKIC was there... every time I walked around girls were like "OMG Davey's here!!" womp womp. haha
So aaaaaaanywaaaaaays...
I had an amazing time, and I wish TAI... played more shows more often, because I love them and appreciate their music very much... i really do. Plus... William Beckett is a total hottie... haha.
I just wish i had a better spot to see them... it's hard for me to be on floor level and see anything... seeing as i'm 5'1'' and cant see anything if someone who is 5'7'' stands right in front of me... there should be concert rules, that if you're like under 5'5'' you automatically get to stand up front... I am part of the Revolution... I can make it happen. haha... too bad you don't know what the revolution is... it's ok, you really don't need to know... you'll know it when you see it... :) aww. haha. every time i make that little guy that's what goes through my head. "Awww! he's adorable!!" haha :) hahahaha when i make that same little guy on twitter and facebook it doesn't look the same so i make it different, but on here it looks super cute. haha ok.. im gonna stop talking and maybe go to bed.
catch ya on the flip stonchmonkeys.
peas.

Dear Matt Hires and Co.,

You are the most talented and down to earth guys I have ever met in my entire life, and I just want to thank you for letting me be a part of the show tonight. I know it was just selling merch, but it was probably one of the coolest things I have ever done in my life, and for you to allow me to be a part of it totally made my life. Every person that I met tonight was downright awesome and enjoyable to be around. It was like taking the local scene girl and sticking her in her biggest dream for a night. I totally felt like a make a wish kid, without the life threatening disease. I love your music and to hear it live is so amazing and I just wish I got to see you live more often. Come back to Chicago soon. We love you here.
that is all.
Love,
Suzie :)

HEY! thanks for reading my love letter to Matt Hires and Co. haha... If you couldn't tell by now, I had the best time at his show tonight. It was so refreshing to be at a +18 show and not have to deal with teeny boppers. But there was an absurd amount of another demographic... middle aged women. womp womp. They actually came out to see Jason Castro... who apperently was on American Idol, but who knew? Not me. haha. I had to text both Sam and Brandon before I got an answer because I felt bad asking someone there who he was... He's super talented tho, and if you haven't heard him sing look into it... oh and he's just sooo dreamy. haha
The girl who opened tonight was Caitlin Crosby and she had one amazing voice. She sang a lot about imperfection is ok and faults beings good... some good messages for young girls... I sure hope she goes far.. she has a website, loveyourflawz so check her out and see for yourself.
Matt Hires was amazing. Imagine that, right? But what kind of impressed me was after the show when he was talking to fans... aka girls... haha... he was so egotistic like the guys in local bands i watch talk to girls. He wasn't all "omg everyone loves me, im the greatest" towards it. He was more reserved and may I say shy.. because that's what it seemed like he was.. Like he wanted to talk to you, but he looked like if you didnt go up to him and be assertive he wouldn't mind just chilling in the back.. he's so soft spoken and sweet. i love seeing that. it's very refreshing coming from the local scene to this. People are super nice and accepting, i didn't feel like I was being judged at all... which is sometimes my problem in the local scene... but whatevers...
ok. that's it. enough. fin.
i'm going to bed.
peas.

Womp. Womp.

So, I've been reading every blog my friend Sara posts while studying abroad in Rome, and everything she posts and writes about is so cool and interesting. From what I have read and from the pictures I've seen, she seems like she's having might I say, the time of her life. And let me just say I am super jealous of where she is right now and what she's been doing. It seems like every weekend she's heading off to a new city or country and having so much fun. I wish I could study abroad... without the studying part... But I don't know if I could go so far away from my family and friends for so long. I get homesick at home when I don't have certain people in my life for long period of time. Just thinking about it right now kinda makes me sad.
But then I start to think about all the stuff I've been up to here in the local scene. I'm pretty much knee deep in the music scene in Chicago and the burbs, and it seems like I have concerts to go to every weekend, and people to see all the time.
So, you might be asking what I have been up to lately, right? What shows I've been too? Oh. you know the same old, same old.
uhhh... Let's start with The A Kidnap In Color headliner at the Metro. OH YEAH!
Sam, Josh and I hit that sucker up with a purpose. Sam and I started the Revolution... which is a very long story and I really can't go into any details on it. haha.. so.
A Kidnap In Color always bring the heat and throws an awesome set. That was my first show where I could actually drink at, so it was cool to set ourselves apart from the massive heard of teeny-boppers. AKIC played some new songs, but most of it was from their first EP, which is normal, because they only have like 7 songs on it. Sam had met a few people from other bands from a show she had gone to like from the week before, so we had the hookups to the after party, where we drank and had a dance party, and it was pretty sweet.
We have also started going to Angels and Kings on Wednesday nights for One Man(no) Show, which is a free show hosted by Ryan Manno, a DJ from a local radio station. It's free cover so we go. Sometimes it's a big name local band, but sometimes it's little local bands. Either way, we get to hang out with kids from different bands and have a good time.
I took Jessie to her first A Kidnap In Color show last weekend in Indiana. What's with me going to Indy for AKIC shows? I don't know... but the show was in a little Union Hall and in Indiana smoking in public places is allowed and we were all dying. It was totally cool to see the difference between Chicago kids and Indy kids. The kids from Chicago all would go outside to smoke and freeze their asses off, but the kids from Indy would just light up in the hall... totally weird. Davey was complaining about how gross it was in there and I was like just shows how spoiled we are with the no smoking act in the Chicago area. And yet again, AKIC totally rocked the hall. The boys had everyone moving and rocking, it was a good time. They played a lot of their new stuff, which is amazing like usual. Their new EP should be coming out soon. There was this couple of girls behind me and were like smitten with Davey's voice and told me that if A Kidnap In Color isn't famous within the next month something must definitely be wrong with the music scene. Give it time girls, no worries, they'll be big before you know what happened to Ke$ha.
I have like four Kidnap shows in the next month, plus a DIMMN show and a The Audition show coming up too. I'm Just a busy busy revolutionist... if only you knew what that really meant. womp womp.
PLUS... tonight I'm selling merch for Matt Hires at his show here in Chicago. pretty excited about that. I get in to the show for free and sell merch and get to meet him. how sick is that!? Super pumped.
Then this coming Saturday is the The Academy Is...'s 5th Anniversary show for their album Almost Here at the metro and I have been looking forward to this since I found out about it from Teegan and stood in the freezing cold for a ticket... (major fail) but it's all worth it to see William Beckett again. :) haha.. oh man. if you dont know what im laughing at... go read some previous posts...
Oh. there is a show for a local band some kids I went to school with are in... but i don't know if I'm going to go to that... is it weird that I'll go to every other local band's show, but when it comes to supporting fellow RB classmates, it's like I'd rather slit my wrists than see people from school... OK... yet again... I'm not really gonna slit my wrists and I know it's STILL not funny to joke about, and I am still sorry about your friends brother's friends brother's girl friend who use to cut her wrists because she wasn't cool, but I couldn't really think of a better analogy than that. sorry.
In other news. I took my first spanish test today and totally ROCKED it!! HELL to the YEAH! but it's not like i didn't know what I was doing or anything... I took two years of high school spanish, so being in elementary spanish is like taking Spanish 1 all over again... I know all of what we're learning right now. I know it'll get harder soon, but let me shine right now. haha.
That's about it... I'll keep you up to date with shows I go to... I won't let you hanging for too long. But for now... i gotta go get ready for MATT HIRES!!!
Peas!
